Louis Vuitton Hotels will manage the 2 hotels on the Costa Smeralda
The two most renowned and exclusive hotels on the Costa Smeralda, the Romazzino and the Pitrizza, will change their names and faces starting from the 2023 summer season. They will be managed by the luxury company Louis Vuitton, which lands on the Costa Smeralda with the Lvmh hospitality brand excellence.
The details of the operation
Sardegna resorts srl, a company owned by Smeralda holding – wholly controlled by Qatar investment authority (Qia) – has signed two agreements with Lvmh, which in turn belongs to the world’s leading group in the luxury sector Lvmh Moët hennessy – Louis Vuitton. The Romazzino hotel will reopen for the 2024 season under the name Romazzino, Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda, while the Pitrizza will be renamed Cheval Blanc Pitrizza, Costa Smeralda, but only in 2026, when it will reopen after the restyling works.
Exclusive destination
All of this is part of the long-term strategy of the Gruppo Smeralda holding, aimed at enhancing and enriching the Costa Smeralda as an exclusive destination. This project was started in 2017 and includes, among other things, the implementation of tourism initiatives, the introduction of notable operators in the restaurant sector such as the Nikki Beach, Zuma, Novikov, Beefbar and Matsuhisa and many others, online with the unique character and cultural heritage of the destination”.
All workers will remain the responsibility of Sardegna Resorts S.r.l., which will also retain ownership of the business branches belonging to the hotels. Lvmh intends to “further strengthen its leadership of the luxury experience with two new dream destinations in Sardinia that will benefit from the experience and know-how of two brands such as Belmond and Cheval Blanc”. Belmont is already present in Italy in Portofino, Venice, Florence, Casole d’Elsa (in the province of Siena), the Amalfi Coast and Taormina. Both the Romazzino and the Pitrizza are located in the heart of the Costa Smeralda and were designed in the 1960s by architects Luigi Vietti and Michele Busiri Vici, who both took part in the development of Porto Cervo.
