A special experience
One of the objectives of SW6 Destinations Ltd is to give the possibility to live a personal long stay experience within the “Destinations Long Stay", for long stays from 2 to 4 weeks, both in Southern Thailand and in North East Sardinia .
An innovative tourist product aimed primarily at a target of Anglo-Saxon and Northern European customers, who in the winter period moves in search of places with a mild climate and with more hours of light compared to the countries of origin. According to the World Trade Organization (WTO, 2018) the basin of possible arrivals from Northern Europe only to Spain (Canary Islands, Balearics, Costa del Sol in particular) amounts to 600,000 people whose target, called “SnowBird Tourism", has well defined characteristics and refers to citizens of the European Union aged between 65 and 75 residing in metropolitan areas with a medium-high and high economic and educational level.
With our initiative we plan to intercept a tourist flow that we estimate in about 50 million presences per year from northern Europe, among other things mainly concentrated in the winter months, and which currently are shared between Spain, Croatia, Malta and in part Greece and Portugal, while the Italian share is close to zero. This project has been online for almost a decade on our portals as we have identified the opportunity of this important tourist flow which is fundamental for the tourist economy.
In Sardinia we will involve the authorities of the Galluresi villages, artisans, associations and hoteliers or owners of holiday homes. The project differs from the usual tourist offers: it does not include, in fact, only the hotel service, but offers a real experience within a community, with the possibility of living in an apartment in a Sardinian village, with car to hire available for the four weeks of stay and in close contact with the local population. The package also includes Sardinian cooking workshops (which provide interactive training to create typical agri-food productions such as carasau bread, fresh pasta, typical desserts) and a laboratory of island language and culture, to deal with the inhabitants of the territory in moments of sociability.
